WORK VISA AND STUDY PERMIT UPDATES

According to the latest updates provided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the work and study permits are being sent by mail

Study and work permit applicants who have obtained their approval letters now does not have to go to the border to activate their permits.

International Migrants who are in Canada and who have been authorized to work or study can at present acquire their permits sent to them by mail.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is presently starting up its web form to take requests from individuals who have their Letter of Introductions (LOIs) but no options to go to a port of entry to obtain their permits.

The new rule also ranges to individuals who got their Letter of Introduction (LOI) under the International Experience Canada program.

Covid-19 travel limitations have left many of these Letter of Introduction (LOI) possessors in limbo. Though they have been accepted to work or study, they cannot get their permits if they go to a port of entry. They cannot visit a port of entry due to the fact that it is not counted as essential travel. So, they cannot get their work or study permit, which denotes that they cannot lawfully begin working or studying even if they have previously been authorized.

The new process will let these individuals to request their study or work permit over the internet and have their papers mailed to them. I Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says this facility is available until March 31, 2021.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) officials will then evaluate the study permit application to confirm that the name of the Designated Learning Institution in the request go with the letter of acceptance. They will also verify to see if the applicant’s school is still acknowledging foreign students, and that their program has not been terminated. Ultimately, they will have to be assured that there is still funding in place for tuition, living expenditures and their return home.

If the work or study permit is rejected, officers must add case notes specifying why they made a negative decision based off the work or study permit application. They should also inform the applicant that when their status ends they must depart from Canada, or guide them of the next steps if the foreign national is out of status.

Applicants who are authorized for their permits will get their documents in the mail, and ultimately be able to work or study in Canada.
