For travellers living outside the UK desiring to apply for a UK visa to live in the UK, they should familiarise themselves with some of the new requirements utilized during the UK Visa application process.
UK ID Check App
In the Verification of Identity step of the UK visa application process, presently there is a new system of verifying an applicant’s identity. This is recognised as the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app which can be downloaded through a smartphone.

Generally, UK Visa applicants would be required to book an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) and submit a physical copy of identity documents such as EU biometric passports, to verify their identity.
Lately, UK visa applicants can download this mobile app on their smartphones and will not be obligated to submit physical ID documentation. All they should do is just take a picture of the photo ID page in their passport and submit this via the ID Check’ mobile app. For those who are not able to use the app because their phone is not compatible, they can use a friend or family member’s cell phone to use the mobile application and confirm their identity.
UK Visa Applicant users of the app will be informed of the decision on their visa applications along with other essential information via an online View and Prove service. After their immigration status has been renewed, they will be informed and guided to open the service whilst providing required information. In this section, they can see their visa circumstances and share their immigration information with employers, universities, or any other related organisations.

If UK visa applicants decide on not to confirm their identity using the app, successful applicants can only see their immigration and application data on-screen by using this service. It should be memorised that all information need to be updated should anything change, and this should be done by using the mobile app.
Applicants who do not use the UK ID Check app will obtain a physical copy of their application and immigration status information, by attaining a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
