VISA APPLICATION FEES TO BE REFUNDED DUE TO COVID-19

In this blog we will talk about the Visa application fee refund of visa holders who may be able to apply for a repayment, if their travel has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.




The visa holders who may be able to apply for a refund are:

  • VISITORS
  • WORKING HOLIDAY MAKERS
  • TEMPORARY SKILLED WORKERS
  • PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA HOLDERS

VISITORS

Visitor visa holders who are not in Australia and whose visas expired (or will expire soon) between March 2020 and December 2021 will be entitled to apply for a fee waiver when making and application for a new visa.

WORKING HOLIDAY MAKERS

Working Holiday visa holders who were not able to arrive in to Australia or who were obligated to depart from Australia due to the coronavirus pandemic will also be able to apply for a fee waiver if they desire to apply for a second time. Working Holiday visa holder who are not able to come back to Australia because they cannot meet the obligations will be able to apply for a refund.




TEMPORARY SKILLED WORKERS

Temporary Skill Shortage and Temporary Work visa holders who were not able to accomplish their initial entry to Australia because of the coronavirus pandemic will be allowed to claim a fee waiver for later applications if they desire to apply again and if they (and their employers) carry on to fulifll the visa programs obligations.

PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA HOLDERS

Many PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA HOLDERS (PMV) holders were not able to make their journey to Australia to get married as intended because of the forced travel constraints. These PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA HOLDERS (PMV) holders will be allowed to apply for a reimbursement with the purpose of submitting a new Visa application. Ensuing visa applications will be prioritised.
