OVER 1400 MIGRANTS ENTERED INTO THE UK ILLEGALLY IN AUGUST 2020

In this blog, we will talk about an analysis which shows that More than 1,400 migrants made unsafe Channel crossing in August 2020.

According to an analysis done by PA news agency a new single-day record for migrant influxes was also attained in August 2020. The analysis also mentions that, more than 1,400 migrants came into the UK via small boats in August 2020 – which is considered to be the record for a single month.

Previous month also observed a new single-day record for migrant arrivals, with no less than 235 migrants arriving at Britain’s coasts on 6 August 2020. The United Kingdom Home Secretary Priti Patel not long ago promised to make the path “completely unviable” for those crossing the English Channel to obtain asylum in the UK. PA news agency Analysis also disclosed the number of migrants coming to the UK in small boats in August 2020 was almost as much as June and July joined.

In January 2020, just 94 migrants arrived in to the UK, but improve climate and increased achievement appear to have steered to more crossings over the summer months.

The UK Home Office has pursued to accuse the French authorities and “activist lawyers” for the increasing numbers of crossings and complexities returning back asylum seekers who come to Britain. But charities have called for the UK government to give safe and lawful paths for migrants to claim asylum to stop more making the unsafe journey across the Channel. More alleged migrants arrived in the Port of Dover on Tuesday morning on-board a Border Force patrol boat.

Immigration officials assisted them onto land and a vessel supposed to have been used to cross the Channel was noticed being pulled into the harbour soon after.

The UK Border Force, the RNLI and French authorities are staying alert in the Channel in case more migrants arrive. The UK Ministry of Defence on Monday, confirmed an Army drone which was used in Afghanistan will fly over the Channel to check migrant boats.

It will be the very first time the Watchkeeper unmanned air system has hovered in the UK operationally.
