LATEST UK VISA APPLICATION UPDATES | AUGUST 2020

This blog is especially for visa applicants outside of the UK who needs to apply for a UK Visa or get update about their visa application status and are affected by travel restrictions associated with Covid-19 Pandemic.

Applying for a visa if your VAC is closed

If your VAC is still not open because of the Covid-19 restrictions, the good news is according to latest updates published on 24th August, 2020 which states that you can apply online and select a VAC in any country worldwide, subject to that specific country’s entry requirements, to submit your application and biometrics.

You will be able to make any type of UK Visa application, but at the beginning of your visa application you need to select the country where you will submit your biometrics.

The UK Home Office will review this provisional concession by 30 November 2020.

Applying for UK Visa If you’re outside the UK

There are several changes at the UK border because of Covid-19 Pandemic. Please check what you are required to do before you travel on the link mentioned below.

Please keep in mind that many of the UK Visa Application Centres (VACs) have recommenced services where local limitations allow.

Super Priority and Priority services are only obtainable in certain locations. If the Priority and Super Priority service is available, you will be able to get these services when reserving your Uk Visa application appointment.

Please check with TLS contact if you’re in Europe, Africa and parts of the Middle East & VFS global for all other countries, to get more information and for updates to the status of VACs, including opening times in your country.

Continuing global limitations mean some UKVI services will stay closed. Where services are recommencing, current visa customers who already made applications before the closure of the VACs will be contacted.

How to get your documents from VACs

As VACs resume their services, they will concentrate on returning customer passports.

If the VAC where you applied for the UK Visa is still shut, that VAC will not be able to give your passport back.

If your passport or any other travel document is in a VAC, and a decision on your visa application has been made, the VAC will get in touch with you to organise collection.

If your visa application has not been determined, the VAC will not contact you to give your passport back until it has made the decision on your visa application. If you want your passport back, even if your visa application has not been decided, please get in touch with your local VAC to arrange collection.

Please contact TLS contact if you’re in Europe, Africa and parts of the Middle East & VFS global for all other countries to see if the VAC is operating for passport return in your country.

The UK Home Office is working very hard to reopen more VACs where local limitations allow and social distancing can be preserved.
